BPO: Executives drown in Goa By Techgirl
Sparsh is the domestic subsidiary of Intelenet Global Services (P) Ltd. It offers state of the art solutions to Vertical Industries to meet their voice and BPO needs. Sparsh currently has 5200 seats operating 24 by 7, and has the potential to scale up to 20,000 thousand seats by next year. Sadly, it lost two executives in a drowning accident in Feb this year.
A training team headed by Training Head, Sparsh BPO Services, Ananya Narula, traveled to Goa as a team building and holiday exercise. They landed in Goa at 8.30am and soon went for a swim to the sea. By 11.30, they drowned in front of their boss. Naturally, people tried to rescue the drowning trainers, but the currents in the sea pushed them back. One of the victims was an Assistant Manager while the other was a senior trainer.
Sparsh (www.sparshindia.com), has a total workforce of 6500, and runs a number of highly regarded call centers. According to locals at Goa, Sparsh managers had to spend a large amount to smoothen things with the local authorities.
Quite separately to the Goa accident, according to the grapevine, Sparsh has seen the resignations of a number of senior managers. Sparsh, Bangalore Center Head, Barclays Process General Manager, Vivek Kanan and another Business Unit Head have left in a period of 3 months. The Calcutta Center Head moved out last year.
