Sexual energy at Oracle
By Techgirl

Technology giant Oracle’s database software is used by most of the Fortune 500 companies.  In Dec, 2009, it announced a 4 percent increase of quarterly revenues to $5.9 billion. In these 3 months it posted a net profit of $1.45 Billion, up 12 percent from the previous year. Oracle India is one of the jewels of this international tech firm.

On Jan 22, 2010 American blog group Gawker broke the story about  how the estranged long term girl friend of Oracle President and Obama Advisor, Charles E. Phillips, had spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on billboards and a website in an attempt to embarrass and humiliate him. The website has intimate photos of the couple. She wanted revenge as Charles had dumped her to return to his wife. It was just a question of time before the national media in most countries picked up the story.

Now an update on the story.  On Jan 27, at an event in California to announce Oracle completing its acquisition of Sun, Charles Phillips made his first public appearance. Even while most techies and media feigned public disinterest in his highly publicized complicated love life, they wanted to see how he was coping under the glare of the international media. Charles was at his depreciating best and told everyone: “Hopefully you’ve had a slightly smoother week than I have”.  Some laughter and applause from the crowd.

Silicon Valley Watcher is one of the most read technology and media blogs in USA.  Bacon has named Silicon Valley Watcher as one of the most influential blogs in USA. CNET rated it in the Top 100 blogs.  Silicon Valley Watcher in an article titled ‘The Sexual Energy in Oracle’ wrote about some Oracle execs having an ‘exuberant enthusiasm for the opposite sex’.

Co-founder Larry Ellison set the pace with a bachelor billionaire lifestyle that made him the envy of many men half-his age. Leadership comes from the top.

One ex-Oracler told me, "One of my friends at Oracle was asked by one of the VPs if she would like to be his 'Tuesday girl.'' Apparently he had a vacancy."

Another ex-staff member told me: "Larry would sometimes date employees. You knew when the relationship was over because they would show up with a brand new Mercedes in the parking lot. That was his parting gift, he was a real gentleman. He owns a Mercedes dealership, or at least he used to. I guess he could get them at dealer cost."

If this is true, rather than being sidelined, Charles may actually get a promotion.

Tech mistress revenge

Technology giant Oracle’s database software is used by most of the Fortune 500 companies.  In Dec, 2009, it announced a 4 percent increase of quarterly revenues to $5.9 billion. In these 3 months it posted a net profit of $1.45 Billion up 12 percent from the previous year.

On the Oracle website, Charles E. Phillips is described as ‘President of Oracle Corporation and a member of the Board of Directors. He joined Oracle in 2003. Before joining Oracle, Mr. Phillips was with Morgan Stanley, a global investment bank. Prior to Wall Street, Mr. Phillips served as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps in the 2nd Battalion, 10th Marines. Mr. Phillips holds a BS in Computer Science from the United States Air Force Academy, a JD from New York Law School, and an MBA from Hampton University. Mr. Phillips is on the boards of Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City, The American Museum of Natural History, New York Law School, Viacom Inc., and Morgan Stanley. In February 2009, Phillips was appointed as a member to the President's Economic Recovery Advisory Board to provide President Barack Obama and his administration with advice and counsel regarding the economy.’

Charles is worth a few hundred million dollars.

Unfortunately for Charles, a woman YaVaughnie Wilkins who he had an affair with for 8 years had taken their recent breakup badly.  So badly, that YaVaughnie Wilkins spent hundreds of thousand of dollars taking up huge advertising bill boards with photos of the now estranged couple and details of a website which had pictures of the couple when they were together (Picture at top of article). It seems YaVaughnie is so bitter and full of hatred that she has even published at least one photo of Charles young son with his wife. Dragging a child into a messy relationship breakup just seems sick.

Valleywag broke the story.  After lying low for a day, Charles Phillips admitted to NBC Bay Area that he indeed was the man on the billboards. Valleywag reported

And after 8 1/2 years, it appears that Phillips may have reconciled with his wife back East, at least for a time. Just this past December, he appeared with her to accept an award and gave an effusive speech about how "he owes everything to his wife." Ryan speculated that perhaps Phillips was leading a sort of a bicoastal double-life, telling people out West that he was long-divorced, while remaining married to Karen in the hopes of eventual reconciliation. These details lend some support to this pretty wild theory, as well as to the theory that the billboards were a final, brilliant act of revenge by a spurned Wilkins.

What's more, these billboards seem calculated to sabotage a major Oracle event Phillips will likely be speaking at: On January 27th (The same day Apple will or will not unveil the tablet), Oracle will host an "all-day live event" at its headquarters following the announcement that the EU has approved Oracle's acquisition of Sun Microsystems. Devious!

Hell hath no fury like a tech mistress scorned.  Girl, you may have embarrassed Phillips but it does not reflect too well on you.  Especially, dragging in his young son on to the photo album you published on the internet. No wonder, some men think that some of we women are a bit crazy in matters of love and lust.
