BPO Vertex to fire 130 employees By Mahesh PV
Vertex India, based out of Gurgaon, is being accused by its own employees of having a bad record when it comes to doing business. An employee, on condition of anonymity says: “the company is working without a vision”. It is noteworthy that Vertex has been losing clients consistently - they lost United Utilities 2 years ago, lost Orange last year. Now it is Trainline on 17th August.
The insider adds “That's 130 people, their jobs, their livelihoods, aspirations on hold and in danger. All this because of the fact that some in the top management have no vision about what to do”. People who knew, they either left because of frustration or because they got better opportunities.
Significantly in the backdrop of many lay-offs recently in BPO 24/7 Customer, Keane and a few others, there is a lot of resentment in Vertex employees. Many are seen to be helping each other find a job. The company could not be reached for their comments despite repeated attempts by this reporter.
Looks like the people working with BPO companies will have to get used to the hire and fire routine - a drastic shift in public image of these companies who were till now lauded for their efforts in every sphere. The BPO Industry may face some choppy seas in the near future.
