Nagpur IT Company fires brothers
By Mahesh PV

Uday and Vinay Kadbe are shocked brothers-in-arms. Vinay was well employed with Infospectrum India Pvt Ltd at Nagpur. Uday was doing well on his own in the US. When an opportunity presented itself, Vinay referred his brother for a senior job in his company. Uday landed the job given his skill set, and left his cushy life in the US to be back with his family. All went well for over 5 months. Then everything went wrong.

The brothers were fired together on flimsy grounds. Uday was told that he was absent from his desk without informing his superiors,  while he has conclusive proof that he sent emails to a number of seniors about leaving for a short while, a practice which is accepted in his company. Most people, he says, do just the same if they have something urgent and want to take a couple of hours off. But the company has singled him out for different treatment.  Actually, Uday feels that his high salary as a project leader was the only possible reason that the company wanted to fire him. The company it seems cannot afford him now.  He also says that he has implemented many new ideas and concepts, and now the company will hire someone junior at a lesser salary.

Their due salaries were paid in full though. Yet, Uday was left feeling cheated. In his contract there was a relocation clause where he would be paid Rs. one lakh rupees for moving countries, and a corresponding clause that Rs 50,000 would be deducted from his final settlement if he chose to leave the company in less than 12 months. The company has not paid Uday his Rs. 1 Lakh, but deducted Rs 50,000 citing his contract, while the fact remains that he did not leave, and that he was fired. The Company has not responded to Uday and Vinay as to why they were fired.

Uday and Vinay, now unemployed for over a month, have been left with many questions which no one from their ex-employer is willing to answer.
