Gold, cash missing from BPO
By Nitin Paul

Foreign currency and gold coins worth Rs. 5.5 lakhs have gone missing in mysterious circumstances from the premier business process and IT services company Keane India Limited in Gurgaon, India. The police officials who are investigating the case are perplexed about the theft as all the access-controlled doors and locks of the safe where the currency and coins were safely stored have been found to be intact.

The crime took place on the third floor office of Keane India at Unitech Trade Towers in Sushant Lok. The company delivers Application and Business Process Services to its clients. The company has its Advanced Development Centers (ADCs) in Gurgaon, Noida, and Hyderabad in India, and has emerged as one of the fastest growing midsized business process and IT services companies in India.

In his written complaint to the Sushant Lok Police station, the Vice President of the company,  Dhananjay Prasad,  stated that the foreign currency involving US, Singapore and Canadian dollars, UK Sterling pounds and gold coins of 5 grams each were found to be missing from the safe of their company.

The head of the Sushant Lok police station, Dr. H. Om, said that the company Vice President stated in his complaint that the foreign currency and gold coins worth Rs. 5.5 lakhs were found to be missing from the company safe on Wednesday.

Dr. Om said that the primary investigation into the incident revealed that the safe and locks were found to be intact and this was really surprising. “We would also be carefully examining the CCTV footage of the company of last few days to see the movement of the people in the office. It is really shocking that all doors and locks are intact. It seems that someone with unauthorised access to electronic entry cards has committed the crime,” he added.

Techgoss note:  Keane is head quartered in the United States and has been in business since 1965.  Recently acquired by Caritor, Keane operates in 11 countries and employs more than 14,000 professionals.
