BPO executive killed in traffic By Jacob K
A Sparsh BPO executive was crushed to death by a speeding state roadways bus on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway when he was trying to cross this busy stretch on his way to his office. He was reportedly caught in the middle of the fast moving traffic with music earplugs on his ears, his colleagues revealed. The 23-year old customer care executive Navnit Singh Saigar was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
The incident occurred at about 10.00 am opposite the DLF Square Building near the Convergys Call Center building after Navnit got down from a bus on the expressway. "As he along with other colleagues tried to cross the stretch, there came a heavy flow of traffic from the Delhi side and he stopped in between the expressway. He again moved when the vehicular traffic slowed down but a motorcyclist hit him first and he fell on the road. A state transport bus which was coming at a high speed behind the motorcycle crushed Navnit," said Vivek Tiwari, the Manager (Administration) at Sparsh BPO that has offices in Udyog Vihar, Phase III along the Expressway.
According to his colleagues, Navnit was trying to cross the expressway with music earplugs on his ears. Navnit, who hails from Mount Abu, was residing in a rented accommodation in Vasant Kunj, Delhi and had been employed with Sparsh BPO for the past one and a half year as customer care executive. Navnit was working on the billing process for banks at Sparsh. He would commute to the office by bus only. His father Shailender Singh works with Touchtel India. Bhuwan, an eyewitness to the incident, and an employee of NIIT, said that he also was trying to cross the expressway with Navnit. "I somehow managed to cross the stretch amidst heavy traffic movement but Navnit got stuck in the middle of the fast moving traffic. Navnit was probably distracted a bit from the fast traffic as he had music earplugs on his ears. He was listening to the music when we were crossing the road. I told him to remove the music earplugs off and cross the road carefully. It was at this time only when he was trying to remove music earplugs, he was hit by a motorcyclist first and then by the bus. I along with other rushed him to Kalyani Hospital at MG Road but sadly no one could save him" he added.
