BPO boss leads cleanup movement By Rahul Kumar
Guess who is leading the movement against illegal dumping of garbage near the posh locality DLF City in New Gurgaon? Having carved a niche for himself and his company Parsec Technologies in the global Corporate and IT world, Prabhat Agarwal has turned his attention to local issues. Prabhat and his wife are organizing another demonstration to force authorities to stop the garbage menace.
The Co-founder and Managing Director of Parsec Technologies , Prabhat Agarwal, lives with his family in DLF City, Phase I and is gearing up for another demonstration on September 22 against a civic menace that had been haunting this upmarket dwelling for about a year.
The civic agencies have been dumping untreated solid waste collected from the entire city to the tune of over 325 metric tones (almost 40-60 trucks a day) near the posh locality DLF City, Phase I. The stench, rodents, insects emanating from this dump has made life hell for the residents around. Earlier, on August 24, Prabhat along with his wife Ambika and supported by hundreds of DLF City residents had blocked Faridabad Road for about an hour to register their anguish against the menace. Prabhat had played a major role in persuading and bringing the residents that included retired IAS officers, corporate honchos, IT professionals, academicians, housewives and students out of their cozy and air-conditioned houses on Sunday. Prabhat had also addressed the gathering using the traffic cop’s canopy right in the middle of the crossing after the traffic blockade was lifted. His wife Ambika Agarwal is also not far behind. Whenever Prabhat is busy with his assignments; Ambika keeps regular contact with the active residents of the locality and keeps them in the loop about upcoming demonstration as the battle against civic menace is likely to continue even further.
The civic agencies such as HUDA and Municipal Corporation have hitherto failed to pay proper heed to the residents of this upmarket locality. Ambika is also in regular touch with media people and keeps mailing them updates as well as further course of action.
Ironically, this dumping site is just a few hundred yards away from the world-class DLF Golf Course Club and also the Rs. 10 crore DLF luxury apartments Aralias and Magnolias. Also affected is the Central Park and parts of DLF Phase IV which include The Shri Ram School and Windsor Court as well.
