Syntel sacks corrupt manager
By Pulkit Sharma

Over the last twelve months, Techgoss had published a series of exclusive reports giving details of all that was happening inside the BPO, KPO and IT divisions of Syntel.  One report showed how that in the recent past Syntel BPO was overly reliant on couple of key clients.  Techgoss had also reported on the exit of the CEO and senior HR people as well as recent salary hikes.

Techgoss has received reliable information that a Maharashtra based Syntel manager N* was marched out of the door in January 2010 for blatantly soliciting bribes and favours from employees reporting to him.

N’s last role at Syntel was that of an Operations Manager.  He started his 3 year career with Syntel as a Team Leader before moving up to become a Manager at State Street Syntel Sourcing.

N studied at Mumbai and during his education was well known for his eloquent debating skills. Somewhere along the line, his greed took over his conscience and better judgment, and N started asking for bribes from a handful of people being considered to work overseas.  There was even talk that he used the personal credit card of a subordinate to pay bills worth tens of thousands of rupees.

N became so blatant that he started using emails to ask at least one of his subordinates to cough up cash.  It was just a matter of time before someone at Syntel complained about his corrupt behaviour.

To Syntel’s credit, the senior management swung into action.  A thorough probe was done and everyone associated with N were asked to give their account of what happened.  As soon as there was enough hard evidence, N was sacked on the spot in Jan, 2010.  The probe showed that N was the only person indulging in such unethical behavior.

(N* - Techgoss has the full name and background of N*.  But at the request of our Tipster, we are giving him a pseudonym in this article)

I wish the HR is good enough to act against some senior management people- who victimize employees routinely - for their own individual growth in the name of organizational interests. For them , employees are not human beings. Surprisingly such people have been shown the door from previous organization but getting big time growth in Syntel. How come ?????
