How much are Aegis Agents paid?
By Vandu

Aegis BPO has 39,000 employees based in 42 delivery centers and looking after 135 clients.  Head quartered in Mumbai, Aegis has call centres in India, Philippines, America, Costa Rica, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Australia, Kenya and South Africa. Aegis, ranked eighth by NASSCOM among the top BPO exporters in India, is experiencing a growth spurt in a number of its centres.

Aegis Lucknow, which has a workforce of 5000, is a key pillar of Aegis India.  Aegis Lucknow clients include Videocon, Airtel and Vodafone.

A Techgoss Tipster based at the Aegis Headquarters at Maharashtra send in a juicy tale about their offices in Lucknow.  Unlike Tier 1 cities where Agents are paid more in keeping up with the cost of living,  new Agents in Lucknow are paid between Rs. 5600 – Rs. 6000 per month.  After taxes, the pay in hand works out be approximately Rs. 4900 per month.

New Agents get even lesser because they have to pay the first installment of Rs. 550 (3 installments to cover total cost of Rs. 1200) for the Headphones.  There are also one off payments of Rs. 95 for Access Card and Rs. 150 for ID card.

Some Agents also have to pay back the costs of their training which can vary between Rs. 1200 and Rs. 2400 based on the training and installment plan they chose to become an Agent at Aegis.

According to our source in Mumbai, Aegis has a new deduction whereby Agents are penalized Rs. 35 per hour if they logon for less than 8 hours.

According to information that was escalated to Maharashtra, some new Agents at Lucknow, after all these deductions, were given only half of their net salaries.

Naturally, some Agents were unhappy after seeing their salaries this week. The matter has been escalated to HQ and they are looking at fine tuning the system.
