Chicks rule social sites
By Shalini Singh

United Kingdom based journalist and internet expert, David McCandless, has written for Guardian, Wired and other prestigious news organizations. He has also been published by HarperCollins in US and UK. David also created the very addictive ‘Helicopter Game’.

Till recently, every survey I had seen showed that men dominated the internet.  While a sizable number of net users were women, they were outnumbered.  Women do more work at home, fear of being stalked on the net, lacking the same drives to watch internet porn and sports - were some of the reasons why it seemed there were more men on the internet. It seemed that some of this gender imbalance was also there on social networking sites.

But David McCandless has collated evidence which he says shows the exact opposite.  David has blogged about how Linkedin, YouTube have the same amount of women as men.  There are more women (57 percent in both cases) using Twitter and Facebook.

Check out his blog post to get this interesting perspective.

If this true, then expect spammer to reduce their Viagra ads and pump up their perfumes and shoes junk emails.
