Free ads worth Rs. 2500 By Bala Shah
In April, 2009, Google announced that it had the first reduction in quarterly revenue since 2004. But severe cost cutting resulted in an 8 percent jump in net income to $1.42 Billion.
But competitors are offering attractive alternatives to Google. Facebook, with 250 million members, is clawing away Google Orkut membership in India. Facebook has been successful in drawing away some advertising revenue from Google. A revamped Yahoo has just launched a $100 million advertising campaign which includes one of the jewels in its crown – India.
Time for Google India to launch campaigns of its own. Google India has just announced that it will offer Rs 2,500 word of free AdWords advertising to any small business in India. The idea is to reach out to new small and medium businesses which have never tried Google advertising before.
How will this work? The small business has to just ring 1860 266 6622 and leave their details. A Google India representative will help them from that point onwards. For some reason, Google India is not offering an online sign up option as well.
