Truck kills techie before Valentine engagement By Anita Arora
A SAF programmer employed with American company, Inventiv International, died on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway on Saturday evening when an out of control speeding truck rammed into the rickshaw he was riding. The 27 year old deceased, Jagdishwar Rao who was to get engaged on February 14, Valentines Day, was on his way to see his friend when the mishap took place.
A native of Andhra Pradesh, Jagdishwar was employed with Inventiv International - a Clinical Research and Data Management company, for over a year and had been working on a pharmaceutical research project for Glaxo SmithKline Pharmaceuticals Limited. He was living in a rented accommodation in Sector 17 in the tech hub of Gurgaon.
The area police officials said that Jagdishwar had first walked down to Iffco Crossing to hire a rickshaw for DLF City where he was to see his friend Rajesh. As his rickshaw reached near Atlas Crossing on the service lane of the expressway, a truck speeding in from behind hit the rickshaw killing Jagdishwar on the spot and seriously injuring the rickshaw driver. Jagdishwar, who was rushed to a private hospital, was declared ‘brought dead’ while the rickshaw puller is fighting for his life in Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. His condition is reported to be critical.
One of the office mates of Jagdishwar told techgoss that on February 14 he was slated to be engaged to a girl. Earlier too on September 4 last year, Navneet Singh a Customer Care executive with Sparsh BPO, was crushed to death by a speeding bus on the same Expressway when he was trying to cross this fast stretch on his way to his office. The 23-year old employee of Sparsh BPO had died on the spot.
