Stephen Johnson, a Test Lead with Polaris Software Labs Limited, Gurgaon was robbed by five armed miscreants when he was on his way to see his friend after office hours at 9.30 in the evening. The robbers snatched American and Indian currency, his wrist watch, mobile phone and ATM cards before fleeing in a Toyota Innova. The booming tech hub is a magnet for criminals.

With office in Polaris Towers in Udyog Vihar, Polaris Software Lab is one of India's leading companies contributing to the knowledge economy of the global financial services marketplace. Angrez Singh, the Police Station House officer, DLF city said that Stephen was dropped at Iffco Crossing on Delhi-Gurgaon expressway by one of his friends after office hours at about 9.15 pm late last week. He hired a cab at the crossing to visit his friend living in DLF City (Phase II).
Five miscreants including the driver were already sitting in the cab - a Toyota Innova. As the cab drove down to DLF Phase II, two of the criminals took out their revolvers and directed Stephen to hand over whatever he was carrying. The robbers snatched 300 US dollars, 13,500 INR, wrist watch, mobile phone and ATM cards.
In his statement given to the police officials, Stephen said that one of the robbers was calling another by a name Shamim. The police have registered a case of snatching against Shamim and four unknown youths.
Earlier too, KJ Joseph, a Delhi-based executive was robbed in the similar fashion in January when he had hired a cab at Iffco Crossing only. He was also assaulted black and blue by the robbers who had snatched everything he was carrying including the ATM cards. The robbers had also withdrawn Rs. 59,000 from his account before he could reach the bank to block its unauthorised usage.
