Bangalore Support Group for Pink Slips By ITBangbug
Today, the most dreaded word in the IT Industry is ‘Pink Slip’. Every time there is a new Meeting Request or a phone call from the HR, you wonder if it’s your turn? That seems to be the scenario in many IT Companies, especially ones that aren’t doing well. And once you get a pink slip, your entire world crashes and there is no clue as to what to do next, how to proceed?
Well, there is some help at hand.
Pinkslips is a community support network for people who got the pink-slip. Started by a group who call themselves ‘Professionals in Transition’ and Senior Experts who have gone through many a recession and many pink-slips in their careers and have come out successful, Pinkslips hopes to help people to have a sustained continuous growth. “If you have a pink-slip in hand it does not mean that you are no good. You will soon come to realise that the present crisis is the best that has happened in your life” assures the group on their homepage www.pinkslips.in
The group meets every Thursday in the IT hub of Bangalore. According to one of the founding members of this community, a person with over 20 years in this industry, support systems are essential but absent for those who lose their jobs for no fault of theirs. “While we will keep necessary metrics to measure time and costs, we will not be passing on the costs to the participants till such time that they can bear full or part of the costs. We want to focus on accelerated learning & competency development so that the crisis is transformed into an opportunity that would make a larger difference which would compensate the effort many times over in the long run”.
The community hopes that this will be a collective response of the people who are all affected in some way or other by the crisis and will assume responsibilities appropriate to the context and lead the process. As the saying goes, when the going gets tougher, the tough gets going.
