Talk to Rehman Malik By Bala Shah
Pakistani Interior Minister Rehman Malik is a Bhutto family loyalist who has been rewarded with many plum posts. As the current Interior Minister, he is one of the leaders of the war against terrorism.
On the face of it, Mr. Rehman Malik dislikes India. He has publicly accused India of fomenting terrorism in Balochistan and asked US to ‘warn’ India to meddle in the internal affairs of Pakistan. Bizarrely, Mr. Malik even accused Indian of supporting the Taliban. The same Taliban who has declared war on anything Indian in Afghanistan and which was created and funded by ISI.
Most Indians see Rehman Malik as a negative Laloo Prasad. While Bihar’s Laloo is an intelligent populist with a mastery of words, Mr. Malik has an equally high profile with a quixotic, bumbling anti-Indian stance probably fuelled by a desire to court the Pakistani security establishment. While laloo is respected for his managerial skills, Rehman is best known for his rants against India, terrorists and the opposition party.
In November, 2009, Mr. Rehman Malik finally got his website up and running. Being a populist, it has prominent images of him with key players including President Obama, President Zardari and even the Saudi King.
Mr. Rehman Malik’s official website has links to his profile on American sites like Facebook, Myspace, YouTube and even Friendster.
Mr. Malik’s site says he is available to chat online for 1 hour every fortnight. Presumably, not only Pakistanis but even Indians can chat to him during this hour of public connect.
And which country hosts his website? Not a single Pakistani ISP was good enough for him and he chose an American hosting service.
