Praying computer yet to support Hinduism
By Techgirl

Like many India women, I spend a lot of time mulling the serious questions in life.  Is there a God? And does she hear my prayers?  What is the meaning of my life?  How do most Indian women manage to juggle family and careers so well? Sometimes the questions are just silly.  Like, why does my partner love me more than my affection for him?  Or is it the other way around?

Or, as partner reminds me at regular intervals (flippantly, of course) that no man can love me the way I love myself. Some questions have no simple answers.

Now, another serious (or silly?) question has been added to my list of queries which may never be answered.  Can computers pray for me?

A prayer website ‘Information Age Prayer’ claims that it can pray for you for a small fee.

Information Age Prayer describes itself as “a subscription service utilizing a computer with text-to-speech capability to incant your prayers each day. It gives you the satisfaction of knowing that your prayers will always be said even if you wake up late, or forget. We use state of the art text to speech synthesizers to voice each prayer at a volume and speed equivalent to typical person praying. Each prayer is voiced individually, with the name of the subscriber displayed on screen. At Information Age Prayer we think our service should be used like a prayer supplement, to extend and strengthen a subscriber's connection with God. Traditional prayer is an integral part of this connection and should never be forgone, even after signing up.”

This holy website which claims to put you in touch with God does understand the worldly ways of capitalism. You can subscribe for yourself, or you can purchase a subscription as a gift to friends or family. All credit cards are accepted

Hindu’s will be disappointed to know that they cannot avail of this spiritual service. At this point in time you can only ‘pay for prayers’ if you are Protestant,   Catholic,   Jewish, Muslim, Unaffiliated or belong to Other Religions.

If you click on Other Religions you will be told that the computer will not pray for you as ‘other religions are not yet supported’.  Will adding Hinduism and Buddhism be seen as an upgrade to the computer system?

Better news for my brothers and sisters from the Islamic faith in India.  Information Age Prayer website assures them “All Muslim prayers are voiced in English, with the computer speakers facing Mecca.”

Fajr, The First Daily Prayer, is for only $3.95 a month.

Whatever your religious belief, if you sign up for the computer to pray for you long term, you will be given huge discounts.  Hopefully, these discounts also carry forward to my bad karmas.

For understandable reasons, the men and women behind this website prefer anonymity.  Not even a phone number is listed on this prayer website.  Wonder why?  Is this another scam on the internet or a serious attempt to bring God and man together?  Not really sure as internet scam artists move in mysterious ways.

Hope the holy computers are using the latest Norton security software and are not relying on the local witch doctor/tantric to drive the viruses away.
