Wrong PM Singh hacked
By Ria Sharma

One of India’s largest news agencies, PTI, sent a news reports to hundreds of newspapers and media organization with the title ‘Manmohan Singh website hacked on December 2, 2009.’  The article began by saying ‘The website of the Indian Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, has apparently been hacked’

Pakistani hackers had left a message on the hacked website manmohansingh.org criticizing Indian policies towards Pakistan and Afghanistan and claiming ‘Look, we have f***** your PM. lol!’. Some Indian and Pakistani hackers are in competition to hack into each others sites.

The PM’s office refused comment to powerful Indian news agency PTI.

Manmohansing.org is not owned by the Govt of India.  It is not even owned by the Prime Minister’s family.  This website is actually owned by Kerala born but currently US citizen Thomas Vellaringattu who own internet company WorldViewer.com.  WordViewer describes itself as a US based web services and media company.

Kerala born Thomas Vellaringattu worked as a Software Designer and Systems Analyst in Saudi Arabia before migrating to US in 1985.

In case people mistake it as an official website Thomas has a small disclaimer at the end of the site ‘This is not an official site - It is maintained by Worldviewer.com, Inc. as a public service to facilitate communication with the Prime Minister’.

Obviously, the disclaimer was in too small a print for the hackers or PTI to realize that it was merely a US run fan website with no links to the Government of India.
