Syntel VP and Head Sales leaves By Bala Shah
Over the last ten months, Techgoss had published a series of exclusive reports giving details of all that was happening inside the BPO, KPO and IT divisions of one of India’s most successful IT-ITES companies Syntel. One report showed how that in the recent past Syntel BPO was overly reliant on couple of key clients. Also, reported were the exits of the CEO and key HR people.
Regular readers of Techgoss are well aware that a large number of our articles are crowd sourced. People send in tips, story ideas and even articles. Many of our contributors have full times jobs in IT-ITES, and so prefer using a pseudonym.
We love our Tipsters! Even though we pay Rs. 1000 for a great tip, some Tipsters even ask us to donate the money to charity and send them the receipt.
A Techgoss Tipster tells us
“ At Syntel, Lakshmanan Chidambaram was appointed as Vice President, Head Sales—U.S. and Canada in January 2007. Mr. Chidambaram was Head of Sales, Banking and Financial Services and Insurance Business units in February 2006, and in December 2006, assumed responsibility for Automotive, Healthcare and Diversified Businesses sales. Mr. Chidambaram joined Syntel in 2001 and has served in a variety of sales positions.
Lakshmanan, who is also known as CTL, has now left Syntel. Lakshmanan was very close to ex Syntel CEO, Keshav Murugesh, who made a quick exit to head WNS. The parting between Syntel and Keshav was so acrimonious that he wasn’t even offered a proper farewell despite his long and valuable services to the organization.
The new Syntel CEO, Prashant Ranade, is extremely business focused and results driven and it doing a great job. In the new management structure, Lakshmanan’s exit was not surprising but it will make difference to a certain Business Unit (BU) leader in Pune (who recently became a BU leader) since they both worked in tandem and emerged successful in many a turf battles with other BU leaders who now are no more with Syntel. In the process, this BU leader who is known for his brash ways, has rubbed the other BU leaders in the wrong way. It remains to be seen as to how many more turf battles will he get involved in and win - after the loss of a very powerful and influential partner and mentor in the corporate jungle! “
