TiE Summit lowers prices By Ria Sharma
TES (aka TiE Entrepreneurial Summit) was launched in Mumbai in 2006 and describes itself as ‘Asia’s largest summit for Entrepreneurs bringing together entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, policy makers, academia, industry, thought leaders and other stake holders.’
Its latest summit being held in Mumbai started today Dec 21 and will continue till Dec 23.
Was this period of the holiday season a bad time to have such a summit? Have Indians overdosed on such seminars? Were the entry prices too high? Global recession still biting? A combination of all four?
The TES meet in Mumbai has managed to rope in such respected heavy weights like Ratan Tata, Narayana Murthy, K V Kamath, Harsh Mariwala, Malvinder Singh, Kishore Biyani, R. Gopalkrishnan, Nandan Nilekani, Kiran Bedi, Capt Gopinath, and even Deepak Chopra. Respected journalists like Shekhar Gupta and Barkha Dutt will do some interviews on stage. Many other such public figures are attending.
Despite looking as good value for money, there were many tickets which were unsold. So TES launched massive price reductions to get in the crowd.
Non members have been given a ‘special offer’ of Rs. 7,799 to attend the TiE Summit and also get a ‘Discounted’ Annual TiE Mumbai membership. Previously, this package was being sold for Rs. 10,400.
Student Non-Members are being offered entry at Rs, 3,899 instead of the usual Rs. 7,199.
TiE Associate Members now pay only Rs. 4,999 instead of the regular fee of Rs. 7,199. Their spouses now get in for Rs. 6,099 but were expected to pay Rs. 7,199 if they had booked early.
