Syntel: Komal moves to JP Morgan By Pratap
Over the last ten months, Techgoss had published a series of exclusive reports giving details of all that was happening inside the BPO, KPO and IT divisions of one of India’s most successful IT-ITES companies Syntel. One report showed how that in the recent past Syntel BPO was overly reliant on couple of key clients. Also, reported were the exits of the CEO and key HR people.
Regular readers of Techgoss are well aware that a large number of our articles are crowd sourced. People send in tips, story ideas and even articles. Many of our contributors have full times jobs in IT-ITES, and so prefer using a pseudonym.
Normally, Techgoss gets lots of tips backed up by cold, clinical facts. Some Tipsters are angry at some injustice and send in hard stories. Sadly, we rarely get many positive tips about good managers. Today, we got a tip about a popular manager leaving Syntel.
Over the last few months, Techgoss had published a series of exclusive reports on how JP Morgan (JPM) was cherry picking the best of Syntel.
Techgoss has learnt that another senior manager has jumped the Syntel ship to join JPM. The Head, Transaction Processing-Mumbai at State Street Syntel JV, Komal Aggarwal, has put in his papers. Komal was with Syntel since September 2006.
Komal Aggarwal is widely regarded as the Father of the Transaction Processing vertical at Syntel. Not only is he highly regarded for his technical expertise, but the general consensus in his team is that Komal has the human touch and had built an excellent rapport with juniors and colleagues at Syntel.
Syntel’s loss is JP Morgan’s gain.

JPM poaches Syntel staff By Bala Shah
Over the last ten months, Techgoss had published a series of exclusive reports giving details of all that was happening inside the BPO, KPO and IT divisions of one of India’s most successful IT-ITES companies Syntel.
In June, 2010, Techgoss had exclusively reported that the highly regarded General Manager, State Street Syntel Services, Lilly Prasad, has put in her papers. Lilly was with Syntel for about 6 years. Before joining Syntel, University of Madras educated Lilly Prasad was AVP at UTI AMC Pvt. Ltd. A number of people had emailed in saying how much they enjoyed working with Lilly. Lilly, who had been part of the Syntel KPO since its inception, had won a Syntel Star Award (shared) in 2007-2008.
On Aug 7, 2010, a Techgoss Tipster had sent us an intelligent analysis on how Syntel KPO and JP Morgan Chase have a strong bond in terms of movement of staff from one company to another.
On September 30, a regular Techgoss Tipster sent us even more details of Syntel staff switching over to JP Morgan. Ex GM, State Street Syntel Services, Lilly Prasad, has now joined JP Morgan. (Article republished below)
Now we have received a Tip of even more staff possibly switching over to JP Morgan
“ Potentially more manager movements from Syntel to JP Morgan (JPM). There is some talk that at least 3 more tenured managers namely Jignesh Parikh, Nishad Pawar and Prakash Balakrishnan have put down their papers and are joining JPM in Mumbai and/or Bangalore. All three are from the Internal Recon vertical which Lilly Prasad used to head. Now that she has joined JPM in Bangalore, she is head hunting her ex staff with good track records. Rekha Yadav's sudden promotion midway into the year was probably a result of this poaching. All steps are being taken to retain Rekha at Syntel as she is also a prime target “

On Aug 7, a Tipster sent in a very intelligent analysis on how Syntel KP0 and JP Morgan Chase have a strong bond in terms of movement of staff from one company to another. This insightful Tipster wrote to Techgoss
“ Syntel KPO is proving to be supplier of many experienced personnel to JP Morgan Chase (JPM). Over the past 1 year, JP Morgan has quietly lapped up seasoned Syntel KPO staff. Syntel KPO has also gained from JP Morgan.
For one, VS Raj who joined as CEO of the Syntel State Street JV used to be Site Manager and VP Operations at JP Morgan Chase.
Syntel, in turn, has lost Rajeev Mane who moved over from Head Operations (Syntel KPO International Business) to Vice President, Global Fund Services, at JP Morgan Chase
The most recent movement from Syntel to JP Morgan (via GlobeOp Financial Services) is Subhabrata Basu who is currently a Vice President at JPM. He used to be a Senior Manager at State Street Syntel Services. “
According to our cluey Tipster ‘Syntel has also lost Najeeb Khan and Hiten Doshi. Syntel, on its part, has also attracted people from JPM, but given the breadth of management bandwidth JPM has, the effect of the moves from Syntel to JPM is more acutely felt.”
There is also a rumour that General Manager, State Street Syntel Services, Lilly Prasad, might also be joining JPM in Bangalore, but this is not substantiated yet. Techogss had exclusively reported the resignation of Lilly Prasad from Syntel. (11/8/2010) |
