Manhattan Associates: Employee Sits Exam For Boss
By Rani Sharma
"Manhattan Associates Reports Record Quarterly Revenue and Earnings"- Second Quarter 2006 Software Revenue Total $21.2 Million, an increase of 45% over the second quarter of 2005. This is what it read like in an international daily on 25th July, 2006 early morning. But just exactly one week back, an email was sent out by the HR personnel in Bangalore to all its in-house employees announcing the dismissal of a Project manager and two others. The reason stated was that the Project manager along with his chamcha was dismissed for impersonating, and another guy for sexual harassment.
Delving deeper into the details, it was found that the project manager had asked one of his team member to write the MCA exam in his name as a favour. In due course the guy who wrote the exam for the project manager started receiving undue favours from him which irritated the team members. One of the team members got into action, found out the reason behind the undue favours, and reported to the higher authorities. Both of them were sacked with due honours.
The case of sexual harassment is the same old story of the individual asking sexual favours in return of official favours. The character of our story is again the same typical Indian manager who is supposedly very happy with his family, but in reality wants sexual favours from female staff.
Manhattan Associates, India is considered an excellent work place by its employees. One has to give it credit for moving swiftly against the erring employees.
