Syntel and BNY Mellon: HR deal?
By Sandhya

Over the last 12 months, Techgoss had published a series of exclusive reports giving details of all that was happening inside the BPO, KPO and IT divisions of one of India’s most successful IT-ITES companies Syntel.  One report showed how that in the recent past Syntel BPO was overly reliant on couple of key clients. Also, reported were the exits of the CEO and key HR people.

BNY Mellon is the corporate brand of The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation. BNY Mellon is a global financial services company focused on helping clients manage and service their financial assets, operating in 34 countries and serving more than 100 markets. It has $22.1 trillion in assets under custody and administration and $966 billion in assets under management.  BNY Mellon has an Operations Centre in Pune for the last 6 years.

Regular readers of Techgoss are well aware that a large number of our articles are crowd sourced.  People send in tips, story ideas and even articles. Many of our contributors have full times jobs in IT-ITES, and so prefer using a pseudonym.  A Tipster tells us of a possible HR understanding between Syntel and BNY Mellon.

Syntel and BNY Mellon (Pune) have entered into an agreement regarding the latter hiring ex Syntel employees. In order to apply for a job in BNY Mellon, a Syntel employee must have resigned two months before the application.  Thus, if an employee resigns in Jan 2011, she would not be able to apply to BNY till March, 2011.

The notice period for Syntel KPO is 45 days and this would mean that practically it would not be possible for a Syntel employee to immediately apply for a job with BNY Mellon in Pune.

This agreement seems to be an unofficial one as many Syntel employees have moved to BNY Mellon as managers etc.

It’s not clear what BNY is to gain with this ‘agreement’.
