How workers rated their companies By Asha
Best awards of any kind are subjective. Some such awards in India are rigged and others boycotted by key players. Even as many industry ‘experts’ and media houses rate good companies like Google as among the very best employers in USA (and even India), the employees themselves may not necessarily agree. American website Glassdoor is one way to get a look at employee feedback.
Salary details, company reviews, and interview questions — all are posted anonymously at Glassdoor by employees and job seekers. Glassdoor management has some people from the tech industry with good track records. Glassdoor is backed by leading venture capital firms Benchmark Capital and Sutter Hill Ventures.
Glassdoor has many review for Indian IT majors like Infosys, TCS and others operating in USA.
Glassdoor has just released its Employees’ Choice Awards: 2011 Best Places To Work in USA. The 50 Best Places to Work for in 2011 are only decided by the opinions and ratings of company employees. Financials and growth rates are not a criterion.
Enough Facebook employees gave it the thumbs up to become the Best Place to Work for in 2011. Its billionaire founder Mark Zuckerberg received a 96 percent approval rating from his subordinates.
Second on the list was Southwest Airlines.
Other Tech companies who made it to the Top 50 list are SAS, NetApp, National Instruments, Apple and Intel.
Google only made it to the No. 30 spot based on employee feedback.
The Top 50 Companies with a huge India outsourcing presence included State Farm, Morgan Stanley, American Express, Capital One and McKinsey. (12/15/2010) |
