Beer backs Blogger meet By Techgirl
There was a time was blogging was hot among young men and women. It still is, but has lost some of its momentum to new toys like Twitter and Facebook.
Pew has just released research which shows that “Since 2006, blogging has dropped among American teens and young adults while simultaneously rising among older adults. As the tools and technology embedded in social networking sites change, and use of the sites continues to grow, youth may be exchanging ‘macro-blogging’ for microblogging with status updates.”. What happens in America usually reflects in Indian big city net usage as well.
If you check out the blogs of blogging groups in cities like Mumbai and Delhi, you will notice some have not been updated for many weeks. These bloggers use Twitter and Facebook to communicate these days.
On the other hand, Indian blog group Indiblogger.in is going from strength to strength. It is run professionally and its website says it has signed up 15 thousand Indian blogs. I read Indiblogger every day to pick up story ideas and trends.
Indiblogger.in sponsor Kingfisher is organizing a blogging meet in Bangalore on Feb 21. The venue is Kyra Theatre, Indiranagar, Bangalore. The organizers have promised that ‘chilled Kingfisher beer would help the ideas flow’. Before you could say ‘free beer’ or ‘What’s the agenda?’, within a day 57 bloggers from Bangalore has signed up. Is this a record of sorts? 57 bloggers signing up in 24 hours?
What a great idea Kingfisher!
