Apple Asian date apps By Shalini Singh
UK-based Asiand8 describes itself as the modern way for Asians in UK, USA and Canada to meet and date. Asiand8 started operations in 2003 and says its site is targeted towards ‘single people from a South Asian background from the Indian subcontinent, and is for 1st or 2nd generation Asian singletons. We still keep in mind that cultural values can still be important regardless of where you are from, so we do highlight areas like religion and ethnic background (e.g. Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Arab, Bengali etc) to make it easier to find that special someone.’
Definitely a niche market here as there are still many people from our part of the world who prefer to socialize and marry without the community. The Asiand8 network includes Hindi, Sikh, Muslim dating, events and parties in USA, Canada and UK. It even holds speed dating meets for people from our part of the world.
Asiand8 has now launched a free application mobiD8 in the Apple Apps store which would make it easier for members to find partners. Like many Apple iPhone applications you can even search for a partner based on their GPS location.
Asiand8 is claiming that this is the first such mobile phone application for people from the sub-continent.
