US 1 Cent for Blog Post By Sumeer
By now it is clear to most old media journalists and new media bloggers that the internet had developed a culture of free news and views. Wikipedia is free. So, are the views of a Harvard professor who wants to share his expertise on the internet even when his college pays him a 6 figure income to teach students. Gmail is free and Facebook does not cost a rupee.
Not surprisingly, most bloggers do not earn much money. In fact, except for a handful of bloggers, most Indians on the net do not earn enough to pay the monthly bills.
The latest scheme for bloggers to make money involves Micropayments. Fraxion Payments has developed a system that would allow some bloggers to charge 1 cent (and upwards) to anyone who wants to read a blog post. The logic being that in this culture of free goodies, some would not mind paying small amounts to read quality blog posts.
At the Fraxion Payments site they have listed the 4 steps to get started.
“ Download Plugin from Fraxion or from Wordpress then install
Register your site with Fraxion Payments
Set your article prices in the plugin
Start charging for your content “
What do you think of this Micropayments scheme? Will this result in a reliable revenue stream for some bloggers?
