Guru’s earthquake joke
By Techgirl

On April 4, 2010, an earthquake of 7.2 on the Richter scale hit California, USA as well as neighboring Mexico.  When the after shocks subsided, 2 lives were lost and about a hundred people injured.  Property worth tens of millions was damaged.

As in the past, the world’s most popular micro blogging platform Twitter was soon reporting first hand accounts of when the earthquake stuck.  There were pictures showing broken buildings.

Along with Twitter’s ability to instantaneously communicate and report news, it also provides a platform to sometimes make jokes which you may or may not regret later.

Dr. Deepak Chopra is a medical doctor and spiritual guru followed by tens of millions of believers.  Time magazine even lists him as one of the top 100 heroes and icons of the century.

Deepak Chopra is on Twitter where he has 179,000 followers. If only mere mortals like me could understand the higher consciousness of gurus, I would perhaps be able to appreciate Deepak’s tweets below. I am not sure if Deepak was just joking or he was working at some subconscious level.

Om Shanti

Deepak has now realized that Twitter users can be equally irreverent.  One tweeted back to Deepak: “If his meditation caused the earthquake, what would have happened if he had farted?”.

Let’s meditate on that deep thought.
