New CII leadership very tech savvy

Founded 116 years ago, The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) works to create and sustain an environment conducive to the growth of industry in India, partnering industry and government alike through advisory and consultative processes. It is India's premier business association, with a direct membership of over 8100 organisations from the private as well as public sectors.
With 64 offices and 7 Centres of Excellence in India, and 7 overseas offices in Australia, China, France, Singapore, South Africa, UK, and USA, as well as institutional partnerships with 223 counterpart organisations in 90 countries, CII serves as a reference point for Indian industry and the international business community.
CII’s new leadership has strong tech links with Infosys boss S. Gopalakrishnan being appointed the new Vice President
Mr B Muthuraman, Vice Chairman, Tata Steel Limited & Chairman, Tata International Ltd has been elected as the President of CII for the year 2011-12. He succeeds Mr Hari Bhartia as the new President.
A B.Tech in Metallurgical Engineering from IIT Madras, he also holds an MBA degree from XLRI Jamshedpur, and underwent an Advanced Management Programme from (CeDEP/INSEAD).
Mr Muthuraman joined Tata Steel in 1966 and has held various positions at the Company. He is on the Boards of several companies which include, Bosch Limited, Tata Industries and Strategic Energy Technology Systems Pvt. Ltd. He is also the Chairman of the Board of Governors of XLRI, Jamshedpur, and National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jamshedpur. Mr. Muthuraman is a member of the Business Advisory Council of Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).
He is a recipient of several prestigious awards like the Distinguished Alumnus Award, IIT Madras (1997),Tata Gold Medal, Indian Institute of Metals (2002), CEO of the Year Award, IIMM (2002), National HRD Network Pathfinders Award 2004 in the CEO Category, CEO of the year, 2005, 2009 IIM-J R D Tata Award for ‘Excellence in Corporate Leadership, in Metallurgical Industries’ from The Indian Institute of Metals, Economic Times Award for Corporate Excellence in 2008 , besides many others.
Mr Adi Godrej, Chairman of the Godrej Group, has been elected as the President Designate of CII for the year 2011-12. Mr Godrej is an undergraduate and Master’s in Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Mr S Gopalakrishnan, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Infosys Technologies has been elected as the Vice President of CII for the year 2011-2012.
Mr Gopalakrishnan (Kris to his colleagues) is one of the founders of Infosys Technologies Limited. As the Chief Executive Officer, he defines the road map for technology and innovation. In 1981, he, along with Mr N.R. Narayana Murthy and five others, founded Infosys Technologies Limited. On June 22, 2007, Mr Gopalakrishnan was appointed the CEO and Managing Director of Infosys.
He holds a Master's Degrees in Physics (1977) and Computer Science (1979) from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
Mr Gopalakrishnan is recognized as a global thought leader. He was selected in Thinkers 50, an elite list of global business thinkers compiled by Des Dearlove and Stuart Crainer, in association with the IE Business School, Madrid, and the London Business School's Management Innovation Lab.
In January 2011, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan, the country’s third highest civilian honour, by the Government of India.
This is the first time that Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has had three Officer Bearers at the helm of affairs, as per changes in the Rules of the Organisation.
