Young blogger hurt By Techgirl
15 year old Manav Dhiman describes himself as a student and aspiring writer who likes to blog. Check out his website manavdhiman.wordpress.com where his intelligence and eloquence shines through. By contrast, when I was 15, I spent all my pocket money and spare time reading magazines about Aamir Khan. And once a month, going in a group of friends, to stand and gawk outside Aamir’s house in Bandra.
Yesterday, I received a Tip that the young blogger Manav Dhiman has posted the following on India’s largest blog group Indiblogger. The highly regarded Indiblogger is a platform used by thousands of Indian bloggers. 15-year old Manav had titled his blog post on Indiblogger ‘There is no respect for bloggers these days’ and had written the following
“ There is no respect for bloggers these days. Manav Dhiman
Hey guys, this is me again. I just gave a suggestion to one of my friends (who is like 10 years older than me) on her new venture. And what I get is nasty comments like ****ty, ass holes, and the worst of them all, Ctrl C and Ctrl V. I think this is as bad a comment a blogger can get who is 100% self-made and has genuine content. Those who read my blog know it.
And considering the fact that I am 15 and all of them (who are bullying me) are like 10 years or older than me. I feel like crying at these comments that has been made on me and my content. Please guys, I want your support. I am still someone who needs more years than those people.
This feels so bad. “
I too felt bad for this bright young man. Scrolling down the comments at Indiblogger, I noticed the fight erupted when fellow blogger Neha had ticked him off because Manav started giving ‘professional advice’ to her emagazine team. And at least one guy in the team did not like to take unsolicited advice. Neha wrote to the popular Indiblogger
“ Neha from Mumbai
Hi Everyone.
I am that "Friend" (whom he deleted from his Facebook friends list after tagging me in his post!) Manav is talking about on this forum.
He did give me suggestions to which I replied to properly. But after that he made certain comments which hurt me and my whole team! I am more than 12 years older to you Manavji :)
I request all of you to check the link where these comments are there
I do not understand if Manavji thinks that we all are at fault; then why he did not post the link here? When he was giving us *professional advices*, that time he didn't mention his age. And here mentioning an age - hmmm, slightly surprising.
Please read those comments first - a humble request. And if you do not find those comments there due to any reason; I have the snapshots of those. “
Not surprisingly, many well meaning fellow bloggers are doing all they can to make peace between the two. After all, most of us (especially me) have said things in the heat of the moment which we have regretted. While some are seeing this as a flaming blog war, I see it more as a clear headed elder sister firmly drawing the boundaries for her bright young brother. Not unlike what happens in my extended family.
