Now a HCL techie had had the unfortunate experience of his bank account being hacked and salary stolen

After running from pillar to post for about a month and urging the bank authorities to reveal the identity of the hacker who transferred his very first salary from his bank account through internet banking fraudulently, HCL software engineer Nitin Gupta has finally has lodged a criminal complaint against the anonymous hacker with the Noida police station. The hacker is believed to be operating from Mumbai.

A resident of Malviya Nagar, New Delhi,  Nitin Gupta had joined HCL, Noida on June 11 and received his first salary cheque of Rs. 38,100 on June 31. He deposited the same cheque in the Axis Bank in Sector 16 branch in Noida on July 3 and his salary amount was credited to his account on July 7. However, when Nitin reached the bank to withdraw the money, he was zapped to discover that just Rs. 6.34 was left as balance in his account.  The bank authorities told Nitin that Rs. 38,100 was transferred to another account on the same day just before he reached the bank. He was also told that the money was transferred to an account of a customer of the same bank in the Mumbai branch, but the authorities did not divulge further information including the name of the hacker, his account number and address.

Despite Nitin’s insistence, and their promises, the bank authorities never disclosed the identity of the hacker.  Finally, Nitin had to approach the police station in Sector 20 in Noida to file a criminal complaint against the anonymous hacker.
