Recession hits UST Global’s 10th Anniversary

UST Global is one of the leading IT Companies based in Technopark, Trivandrum. The company is celebrating its tenth foundation day on 19th August. Foundation Day celebrations are usually spread over a week with several programmes culminating in a grand finale for the employees with their families. The recession has played spoiler to such plans.

UST Global has about 5,800 employees and centres in Cochin, Chennai and Bangalore.

But this time around, the employees of this highly regarded tech company were in for a shock as the event has been curtailed to a single day and that too, with no invites for their loved and near ones!

“Organising the foundation day programme only for its employees or ‘USsociates’, as they are called is ok but mentioning in the invite that “we will not be in a position to include family and friends for this year’s event” is a rather rude way. What we are in the company today is only because of the support of our families. You can’t just ignore them. This also sends out wrong signals about the health of the company”, says a senior employee of UST Global who has been in the company for over five years and does not want to be identified. There are no celebrations planned at the Kochi Centre and USSociates working there have been asked to join the event at Trivandrum, if they wish to do so. Kochi is 200 kms away from Trivandrum.

Top artists from Bollywood and Mollywood are normally invited for the Foundation Day celebrations and this is one event that employees look forward to showcase their talents and skills while having a gala time with their families. Sonu Nigam and Pankaj Udhas were the main attractions in the previous years.
