Fraud Ethical hacker
By Techgirl

It was hard enough to understand the language of love in the real world, and it becomes harder still on the internet.  A guy may present himself as Shahrukh and he may turn out to be Shakti Kapoor.  A man may look as non threatening to women as Karan Johar but may turn out to be another Shiny.

If more proof was needed that men will do anything to chat up women, it comes in the form of a con artist posing as an ethical hacker.

Short version of the story – Omer Kazi met Sheetal on a matrimonial website where he presented himself as a cyber security expert consulted by Pune Police, FBI and CIA.  Sheetal’s account was hacked when she logged on to look at Omer’s photo at Google Picasa. Omer who had done the hacking then presented himself as an ethical hacker who rescued her stolen passwords.  Pune Mirror has the full story

On May 4, Kazi sent Sheetal a URL saying she could check out his photos by clicking on it.

In her FIR with the Lashkar police, Sheetal stated that the link appeared to one leading to the Google photo application Picasa. When she clicked on the link, she was forwarded to a page asking her for her login name and password, which she did.

And then, Sheetal's web world froze over. The next day, she couldn't access both her Gmail and Yahoo accounts.

Then Kazi decided to play cyberhero again. While he sympathetically listened to her hacking problem, he told her that, as an 'ethical hacker', he could easily restore her accounts to her. In a few hours, Sheetal had passwords that worked and email accounts that were hers again.

The unethical hacker is now in police custody.
