CEO shove cost $200000
By Techgirl

Even as more men consciously give up ego and aggression and live more balanced lives, the fact is that even today most men aspire to become a CEO, CFO or a leader of some sort.  A published book and being regarded as a thought leader is icing on the cake.  In contrast, most women still prefer a balance between work and family.

But what happens when women are handed over the same amount of power as men?  Do they take on some male characteristics?

In April, 2009, I had reported on how the Yahoo CEO, Carol Bartz, loves to drop the F*** work in public.  Ironically, Carol can get away with it but most male CEO’s would be crucified for such public profanities.

New York Times is reporting that as the Chief Executive of EBay, Ms. Meg Whitman, pushed a female minder at the company HQ. Ms. Whitman settled out of court with an apology and $200,000 compensation

The employee, Young Mi Kim, was preparing Ms. Whitman for a news media interview that day. Ms. Kim, who was not injured in the incident, hired a lawyer and threatened a lawsuit, but the dispute was resolved under the supervision of a private mediator.

Two of the former employees said the company paid a six-figure financial settlement to Ms. Kim, which one of them characterized as “around $200,000.”

Ms. Whitman is running to be the next Governor of California. Many media observers believe that her political advisors have leaked the story in the early days so that such controversial issues do not dog her in the final leg of the political campaign.

What are your thoughts? Do you feel women managers lose their cool as often as male colleagues?

I know one thing that if someone pushes me, I will just slap them.  On second thoughts, my retaliation may mean a reduced compensation, so, better if I just walk out of the room and hire a good lawyer.  And once I get the compensation, walk back into the room and slap them.

Yahoo CEO swears again
By Techgirl

Yahoo had recently hired a new CEO, Carol Bartz, to turn the fortunes of the company.

By all accounts, Carol is a great leader and has sterling skill sets to be the right woman for the top job.  Like her male counterparts, she loves swearing once in a while.

Now, the Yahoo CEO had done it again.  Used the ‘F**K’ word in a conference call with analysts and media.

Yesterday, at the conference call to discuss the quarterly results, Carol Bartz announced that Yahoo had revenues of $1580 million for Quarter ending March 31, 2009 which was a decrease of 13 percent from last year. She also announced about 5 percent of employees (around 700 in number) would be given pink slips.

Then for some reason, she let out the ‘F**K’ word but quickly apologized.

Me thinks that Carol Bartz does not make mistakes when she utters such profanities in public.  Her idea is to show everyone she is in charge and can do whatever she likes.

Good idea, Sister Carol.  Perhaps I should teach you a few Bahen and Maa galis (abuses) used in India so you are prepared when you visit our part of the world.
