IIPM rumour page on blogs
By Sandhya

In 1973, Dr. Chaudhuri resigned from IIM Bangalore to set up the first Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM) in Delhi.  The rest is history.  Despite opposition from a number of people and institutions, IIPM has become one of the biggest names in Indian higher education having opened 7 well equipped campuses around the country.

In 2009, media house Zee ranked IIPM as the Number 7 B-School in the country.  Hindustan Times rated it among the Top 10.

IIPM offers a Full Time Programme in Planning and Entrepreneurship which many international firms rate even higher than the prestigious MBA’s from some IIMs.

In its early years, IIPM came under attack from what it terms the Indian MBA mafia.  Things got so heated that there was some name calling and one or two people got sued. Despite all its success today, IIPM has a Rumour Page on its main website which it uses to dispel what it perceives to be erroneous information about the institute. This IIPM Rumour Page also gives its views on blogs in general and one critic in particular. (Read the full document at the hyperlink to get a balanced perspective about this IIPM document)

First, Rashmi Bansal, the owner and editor of JAM, has had an outstanding warrant for her arrest in December 2006, due to a separate article published in JAM. Secondly, she and her associates began a campaign against the institute on the internet, using blogs - a typical means used to spread slander against reputed brands by jealousy ridden frustrated wannabees. The same was explained beautifully by T. R. Vivek in his story for the Outlook magazine when he covered the IIPM story. He wrote “The Indian blogging community (or blogosphere, as it likes to call itself) is essentially a bitchy, self-indulgent and an almost incestuous network comprising journalists, wannabe-writers and a massive army of geeks who give vent to their creative ambitions on the internet. Given that the average blogger-age is 25 years, it's clear bloggers love to indulge in hearty name-calling and taking college-style potshots at others. This is probably why some of them get into trouble.”

While both IIPM and JAM have made some good points against each other, the Indian blogging community may be surprised to see such views about themselves on the IIPM website.

This "techgirl" tries to get cheeky and sully Harvard's image in her article and now I find you trying to prop up IIPM. Seems like both of you guys graduated from some cheap B-school ?
