Oil spill on any website
By Techgirl

What a cute idea to raise awareness!

BP’s oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico was the largest such accident in US history.  And at many levels whatever American media picks up is also reported in other continents especially India, as many of our national media have tie-ups with American media houses. And we have close political, business and human links.

For days, many Indian TV stations, newspapers and blogs discussed the oil spill.  But recently, the attention has moved on to other things. This is just how media works.  About 100 media organizations have asked for tours of Paul the Octopus even as news reports about the oil spill take a back sear.

Time for some lateral thinking!  Greener Media have set up a website instantoilspill.com which draws your attention to the oil spill by simulating what an oil spill would look like on your blog or website.  I tested it out on one of my favourite must read daily websites - Times of India.  You can test it out on any of the websites you read.

What a great idea!

And the latest update?  BP Tells us that by next week the oil well in the Gulf of Mexico could be ‘contained’. I am not sure that I believe BP and would rather have the psychic Octopus Paul tell me if BP is giving the truth.
