My SMS threats to me
By Techgirl

Hell hath no fury as a woman scorned.  Some will think up the most cunning plans to hurt their ex.  And some are so blinded with hate that they overlook the stupidity of their plans.

An American woman went to at least 3 different police departments to complain how her ex-boyfriend and his sister-in-law were sending her threatening SMSs. Both the ex and sis in law were arrested.  OCR is reporting

Deputy District Attorney Mena Guirguis said that after Manunga and her former boyfriend stopped dating in 2008, she took out a pre-paid cell phone in his sister-in-law's name, and started sending the threatening text messages to her regular cell phone. Manunga then went to three different police departments on at least 19 occasions and claimed that the ex-boyfriend and the sister-in-law were behind the threats.

Her scheme was uncovered when the victims went to the phone store, talked with the salesman and learned that Manunga had bought the pre-paid phone under the sister-in-law's name, Guirguis said.

A US Court has sentenced Manunga to 1 year’s jail and ordered her to pay $50,000 as restitution to her sisters in law.

For some reason, I cannot get this image out of my mind of Manunga holding one phone in her left hand and the other in her right hand.  And then using her right thumb to send the threat and then using her left hand to read the received SMS.  What if she had handed over the wrong phone to the police while making a complaint? And it could have been worse if she had slammed both the phones in her hands onto her face, and blamed her ex for the bruises.

How long before this comical episode is incorporated into a Bollywood script?
