Nokia hired Pak spammers? By Sati
Despite the slow erosion of its international markets, Nokia is still the most successful phone company in the world. In India, it had 62 percent of the market about a year ago which fell to 52 percent by June, 2010. In the last year, its India revenues fell from Rs. 16,500 crores to Rs. 14,100 crores. It is facing increasing competition in neighbouring countries like Pakistan as well.
Nokia’s Ovi Store sells applications, services and content for Nokia phones. Nokia is doing all it can to push its Ovi Store. And if one of Pakistan’s top IT and Telecom blogs Propakistani is to be believed, Nokia has even hired a direct marketing/spam company to promote Nokia’s Ovi store in Pakistan
“ After HP Pakistan, it is now Nokia that has decided to rely on spam emails in Pakistan to support its OVI store.
Those who may suggest that this newsletter was sent by Nokia Ovi Store to its subscribers only, then you are wrong here. This email is clearly sent from emailshot@directmarketingpakistan.com. And directmarketingpakistan.com is apparently an email marketing/spamming company.
It is strange that multinational companies like Nokia are getting so desperate that they start using illegal and unethical ways to promote their products and services.
By the way, email spamming is a chargeable offense in Pakistan. “
Techgoss logged on to directmarketingpakistan.com and got the image above. The domain used to promote, via email, the Nokia Ovi store in Pakistan does not even have a website. (9/1/2010) |
