BPO: CCTV to catch thief?
By Sandhya

Teleperformance (TP) is one of the biggest BPO’s in the world.  It has about 100,000 employees and revenue of 1,800 mill pounds last year. Established in 1978, its core business spans the full spectrum of CRM/BPO contact center solutions. Teleperformance has a large global footprint in the industry with 276 contact centers, presence in 51 countries, servicing over 75 markets.

Teleperformance supports a number of clients including Adobe, SanDisk, Alliance One, Telus and Microsoft.

A tipster in the Teleperformance Admin team tells us a brand new mobile phone was stolen from their Adobe Process at their Gurgaon offices on Sept 1, 2010.

Adobe has a clear policy for the integrity of their process that mobile phones are not allowed at work.  To this end, Teleperformance have lockers where all Technical Support Advisors store their Cell phones and other personal belongings while at work. By all accounts, the lockers are secure and work well.

But an Adobe Process Technical Support Advisor Khan who had just bought a new Samsung Corby Touchscreen phone for Rs. 7,500 a couple of days ago was a bit hesitant in leaving her prized device in the lockers.  So, she did the right thing and sought permission from her Manager to allow her cell phone to be parked on her desk.  Naturally, she had the phone in silent mode so as not to disturb her colleagues and customers.

Then she left her work station to organize a cup of coffee.  When she got back, her prized possession was gone in a flash.  As there are CCTV cameras monitoring the floor, the tech support team feels that they have a chance of tracking down the phone thief.

Teleperformance has done all it can to secure its premises.  There is even a Fingerprint checking machine at the entrance and CCTV at every vantage point.
