I hate laptop stickers By Techgirl
On the bottom right of your keyboard you probably have some stickers advertising and branding Intel chips and Microsoft operating systems. Apple computers are sticker free.
How much do such stickers irritate us? And rile us enough to leave hundreds of comments in articles discussing such stickers. More than I every thought!
The New York Times recently published an article titled ‘Laptops Look Like Race cars — and Not in a Good Way’. The article quoted AMD research which clearly showed that most consumers hate the stickers. AMD was so concerned that by next year they will switch to new stickers that peel off easily.
This New York Times article about these stickers stuck some raw nerve in consumers and 244 people thought it worthwhile to leave a comment.
Slashdot is arguably the world’s most popular geek website. When Slashdot linked to this New York Times article, about 540 geeks and techies of all shades felt strongly about it to leave an opinion in the form of a comment.
The commenting on this topic was well above the average feedback and discussion on other topics. Who would have thought that a small sticker on a laptop could be such a sticky subject and raise such passions?
