HR Directive for Syntel Associates By Sandhya
Over the last 20 months, Techgoss had published a series of exclusive reports giving details of all that was happening inside the BPO, KPO and IT divisions of one of India’s most successful IT-ITES companies Syntel. One report showed how that in the recent past Syntel BPO was overly reliant on couple of key clients. Also, reported were the exits of the CEO and key HR people.
Regular readers of Techgoss are well aware that a large number of our articles are crowd sourced. People send in tips, photos, story ideas and even articles. Many of our contributors have full times jobs in IT-ITES, and so prefer using a pseudonym. A Tipster, who prefers anonymity, sent in the following Tip
“ I work as a Manager at Syntel KPO in Maharashtra and I have never seen so much sadness among some youngsters in our organization. Some bad news has been announced for all the Trainees in Syntel who have been promoted to Associate after Sept 30 2011. None of them would be eligible for yearly appraisals which will take place in March, 2012.
As per new HR directives, only trainees who were confirmed as Associates on and before Sept 30, 2011 would be eligible for all the benefits that accrue with a good yearly appraisal to take place in March, 2012.
Not surprisingly, some of these Associates are a bit demotivated. It takes 1 full year of very hard work and lots of fake smiles for the boss to confirm you as an Associate. Now these bright eyed hard working young men and women will have to wait till March, 2013 before they get any salary hikes.
A Week is a long time in politics. 2013 seems like years away for Trainees turned Associates. Expect some attrition “
