Syntel Mumbai sacks Headset thief By Techgirl
Over the last 20 months, Techgoss had published a series of exclusive reports giving details of all that was happening inside the BPO, KPO & IT divisions of one of India’s most successful IT-ITES companies Syntel. One report showed how that in the past Syntel BPO was overly reliant on couple of key clients. Also, exclusively reported were the exits of the CEO and key HR people.
Regular readers of Techgoss are well aware that a large number of our articles are crowd sourced. People send in tips, photos, story ideas and even articles. Many of our contributors have full times jobs in IT - ITES, and so prefer using a pseudonym. A Tipster, who for obvious reasons has asked us not to publish his name, sent us details on how Syntel KPO has used CCTV surveillance tapes to catch an employee who stole an expensive Headset.
“ In early December, 2011, an expensive Headset went missing from Syntel KPO, Mumbai. This theft was duly reported to the highly regarded Manager Pritesh who was kind enough to give a chance to the thief to return it, apologize and make amends. No one owed up to stealing the Headset.
So, CCTV footage was scanned and to everyone’s shock a trusted employee N* with 6 years at Syntel had pocketed the Headset. Pritesh informed Vertical Head Alfred Fernandez who summoned N* to his Office on Dec 9. Alfred asked him to explain his position. The Syntel employee confessed to Alfred to stealing the phone and selling it for Rs. 2000.
He was sacked on the spot
N* - Our Tipster has requested that we never publish N* full first name and surname. At the request of our Tipster, only one alphabet of his name will be used “
Gee, why did he have to steal a Headset to earn Rs. 2000? He could have sent me two story Tips as Techgoss pays Rs. 1000 for every Tip.
