WNS BPO:  big bucks for best bosses
By Juan Dela Cruz

Highly-prized managers in the Philippines BPO industry have been surprised to find each other in the same WNS company fold in recent months. Lured by WNS Philippines irresistible job offers, they now find themselves working with each other for humungous salaries. WNS Global has 21000 employees and had revenue of $386 million last year.

WNS Global has teamed up with ACS to create a joint venture WNS Philippines. Techgoss sources from inside tell me that WNS Philippines being a relatively “new kid on the block” here at the Philippine outsourcing industry, has dangled job offers to their manager-prospects which were almost double of their previous salaries. My source who is a manager that handles a call center operations floor has confided to me that WNS offered him a six-figure salary compared to the average of 45,000 pesos in his previous job. At this rate, his monthly compensation is inflated by at least 122% in a country where his counterparts only get an average of 60,000 pesos. The Philippine Peso is on par with the Indian Rupee.

While WNS Philippines also sourced a few managers from India upon commencement of operations in Manila, they have also felt the need to acquire home grown leaders to manage operations. My source also tells me that he has re-united with old co-employees who are also managers now in WNS. However, the reunion he tells me has only brought temporary happiness as their WNS bosses from India are hard to please. He confides they usually put in 16 hours of work on a daily basis just to accomplish their tasks. However, he says the compensation for a very good score card is sufficiently rewarding to make them stay. On top of their bulging salaries, WNS Philippines operations managers, may receive anywhere an additional 20,000 to as high as 65,000 as performance incentives on a monthly basis.

WNS Philippines still maintain an image of exclusivity. Since they only began a few months ago, they have been highly selective in their hiring processes. According to my source, WNS doesn’t mind paying supervisors and even agents shockingly high salaries if they come with solid call center experience and proven track record of success.
