Accenture Managers: Million rupee salaries By Juan Dela Cruise
Accenture is a global management consulting, tech services and outsourcing company. Accenture has 185000 employees and clients in 120 countries. It had revenue of $24 Billion in 2008. Like IBM, it has outsourced many services to India and Philippines. Some managers in Philippines are being paid million rupee annual salaries.
Accenture Philippines started operations in 1985 and currently employs 15,000 professionals in Manila and Cebu. It’s IT and BPO centres are highly regarded among peers in the Accenture global network. Accenture in the Philippines was named BPO Employer of the Year at the 2008 International ICT Awards, and BPO Company of the Year in 2007.
My sources in the HR Department of Accenture Philippines tell me that while the company drives its workers hard, it offers eye popping salaries to some of its senior managers. Senior managers in Philippines are equivalent to middle management in India. An Accenture manager, on condition of anonymity, told Techgoss that the best senior managers get paid 1.2 million Pesos annually Each Peso is equivalent to one Indian Rupee. The HR manager told Techgoss that they are paying 1.2 million pesos annually to a senior manager who oversees a business process for an internet cable company in Europe. On top of his unbelievable salary, he says he also gets 8% yearly guaranteed bonus. Another senior manager leading another BPO account for Accenture was on 65,000 Pesos in her last job, but was poached by Accenture on 103,000 Pesos a month. She also managed to convince the Philippines HR Department to give her a 10 percent annual bonus.
One of the leading managers receives 2 million Pesos every year.
These are truly astounding figures. In a country where a company CEO, Senior Vice-President and Director only averages 60,000 pesos/month, Accenture Philippines really pays their managers well. In comparison, Jobstreet.com reports that counterparts of these senior managers in India specializing in IT, software and computers only average Rs 55,000/month. These senior managers from Accenture are truly enviable. Their guaranteed bonus alone can already account for a fresher’s annual salary in a call center.
According to Techgoss sources, senior Managers are classified differently in Philippines. When we talk of senior managers in Philippines, they head one or more business units for a BPO but they are not necessarily an AVP. They report to a Site Director who may or may not be classified as AVP. To make things a little better to understand, here's a common hierarchy of management: Country Manager (VP Post) --> Site Director (AVP Post) --> Senior Manager --> Operations Manager --> Team Manager
