Blog post to get pending payment By Sumir Singh
Sometimes getting payments on time for services rendered can be problematic in India. For some companies and individuals, it is the norm to make people jump through hoops before getting their dues. When emails and phone calls fail, people go to courts. Now a Kerala tech company has blogged about how it has not been paid.
And the blog post by IdeasPark’s Jinsen Karedath seems to have paid dividends. Tech Company Sayosys which allegedly owed him money has now promised to settle soon.
Jinsen Karedath from Ernakulam District, Kerala, India seems to be a simple person. His blog describes him as starting his career in Mumbai before moving to Kochi. And that he ‘loves music’. Jinsen’s company IdeasPark is described in its website as ‘a pioneer in the terrain of information technology services, backed up by a pool of skilled resources, competent in multidiscipline. IdeasPark has its expertise in a whole gamut of software services that include dynamic website and application development to content management and e-commerce solutions.’
Sayosys describes itself as providing ‘effectual software solutions’ since 2004. It is US based with offices in Cochi, Kottayam, Dubai, London and Los Angeles.
On Feb 6, Jinsen Karedath blogged about his alleged ‘bad experience’ with the President and CEO of Sayosys Technologies in Kochi: “In December I had generated a very good enquiry for him, he could not even give a proposal for that. At the end of December I sent him a service bill. As per the agreement, Sayosys need to pay me INR. 5000 a month for the marketing activities. After sending the bill, when I called he said he is not well, and currently at home. When he comes back to office will make payment. But there were no reply…….”
Jinsen’s blog post seems to have done the trick. Jinsen has password protected the original post posted on Feb 6, and then blogged on Feb 7: “Sayosys has responded and they will make the payment on Feb 9, 2010”. In case Jinsen does not get his payment the password protection of the original article would be removed and the “article will back” on the internet to embarrass Sayosys.
Will such blog posts become the norm in some places in India? Embarrassing people for non payment seems to be quicker than the judicial system.
