Weak Tip for Techgoss By Techgirl
Regular readers of Techgoss are well aware that a large number of our articles are crowd sourced. People send in tips, story ideas and even articles. Many of our contributors have full times jobs in IT-ITES, and so prefer using a pseudonym. We offer absolute anonymity to our Tipsters, many of whom contact us in person once they begin trusting us.
Thanks to our Tipsters, we have broken many stories in the IT, BPO and KPO sectors. A big Thanks again. Most of our Tipsters have intelligent viewpoints which they back up with cold logic and hard facts.
Over the last few months we have published a series of articles on Tips we cannot use because they are half baked. (One of the articles republished below)
Recently, we got another Tip about Aegis which lacks any facts to back it up. The single line Tip read
“ Aegis loses 5 VP's in the last 5 months. The latest might be Nitin Sarna. “
Can any media organization do anything from such a Tip? Nope, because it lacks substance.
(Tipsters, Big thank you for all your tips and photos. Do you have a story to tell? If you need to speak to us in confidence or write for us, email us at techgoss[at]hotmail. Or use the Anonymous Tip form at the top of our website. Anonymity guaranteed. We pay Rs. 700 – Rs. 1000 for 100 – 200 word snippets. Unfortunately, we cannot use any tips which are not backed up by enough facts)

Her satire blog has links to her Times of India interview detailing her being kicked out of Twitter, and then being invited back.

How not to Tip Techgoss By Techgirl
Regular readers of Techgoss are well aware that a large number of our articles are crowd sourced. People send in tips, story ideas and even articles. Many of our contributors have full times jobs in IT-ITES, and so prefer using a pseudonym. We offer absolute anonymity to our Tipsters, many of whom contact us in person once they begin trusting us.
Thanks to our Tipsters, we have broken many stories in the IT, BPO and KPO sectors. A big Thanks again. Most of our Tipsters have intelligent viewpoints which they back up with cold logic and hard facts.
But, about 10 percent of our Tips cannot be used in any way because of the way they are crafted. After receiving a number of Tips which cannot be used in any shape or form, I have decided to write an article on how not to send a Tip to Techgoss. I will illustrate with real life examples.
In the last 24 hours, Techgoss received a one line Tip which read
“ Aegis COO, Sudhir Agarwal, is being sidelined........... “
There were no facts to back up such a viewpoint which may or may not be true. For all we know, Mr. Agarwal may actually get a higher Title and more money in the near future. Was it just wishful thinking on part of our Tipster about this award winning COO who had a successful stint at Genpact and is doing equally well at Aegis. We will never know because a one line Tip does not say much.
Thus ends our first lesson on how not to Tip Techgoss. Sorry, but this article had to be written. (4/4/2011) |
