Shaadi virus disclaimer By Ria Sharma
You would think that India’s No. 1 matrimonial site would be able to guarantee that its website and email system is free from worms and viruses (not to be confused with some weird men who are found lurking in news, sports, blogging groups websites etc)!
Regular readers of Techgoss are well aware that a large number of our articles are crowd sourced. People send in tips, story ideas and even articles. Many of our contributors have full times jobs in IT-ITES, and so prefer using a pseudonym. A Tipster wrote in
“ BharatMatrimony is a network of 15 regional portals and has over 2 crore members. It says it is in the Limca Book of Records for facilitating a record number of marriages. BharatMatrimony has a tie up with Yahoo as well. And its website has won a number of national awards.
But Bharatmatrimony says it can give us no guarantee that it will be free of viruses. It has the following disclaimer (Published in BOLD on its website in case you miss it)
TO THE FULL EXTENT PERMISSIBLE BY APPLICABLE LAW, BHARATMATRIMONY.COM DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. BHARATMATRIMONY.COM DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THIS SITE, ITS SERVERS, OR E-MAIL SENT FROM BHARATMATRIMONY.COM ARE FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS. BHARATMATRIMONY.COM WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES OF ANY KIND ARISING FROM THE USE OF THIS SITE, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, PUNITIVE, AND CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES “
