Tata Infosys partnership

Even as TATA, which owns India’s largest Software Company TCS, has not made it public in India, Pakistani newspaper Pakistan Today is reporting on how Infosys and TATA have a new partnership in Saudi Arabia.

Cricket diplomacy between Pakistan and India started bearing fruits as two IT companies of Pakistan have started working with Indian companies. TATA group of India and Infosys* Technologies of Pakistan have struck a deal to work jointly in Saudi Arabia and, in this regard, some 12 Pakistani IT professionals would go to Saudi Arabia and start work with the said Indian group, under the joint programme venture.

This was disclosed by the IBM Country General Manger Humayun Bashir, while talking to Pakistan Today on Thursday. He stated that another Pakistani IT company has already started selling its products in India, which is a good sign of collaboration between both countries in this sector. Moreover, in the coming weeks, meeting with the high-ups of the Ministry of IT would be held to proceed with this process of collaboration, he added.

He stated that India has a huge IT industry in comparison to Pakistan's meager $2.4 billion industry. India could look up at Pakistani IT Professionals and companies who have performed remarkably in this sector. India could use our manpower as we are stronger in software development, he said, adding that products of Netsol, a Pakistani IT company, are being lauded in the world.

He further said that an IT committee, along with president of Pakistan Software Houses Association (PASHA) visited India in June last to seek collaboration in this very sector. Fortunately, we are getting closer to India even on political front and our GDP would grow through this collaboration, he maintained.

*In case you are wondering, this is not the Infosys started by Mr. Murthy.  Lahore has its own home grown company Infosys Pakistan which has no connection to Bangalore head quartered Infosys.  Which Infosys will send the other a cease and desist letter first?
