Online Tshirts true price
By Aditya Kumar

Can paid advertisements guarantee sales? Not sure!

I came across this combo offer ad for Yebhi.com through a Google advertisement.

3 T-shirts for Rs. 49 each!

I liked the offer. Needed some T-shirts for gym and thought these will be good to purchase.

I clicked on the ad to reach this page that lists several offers at Yebhi.com. I had to search through all these advertisements. Finally, I reached the offer I was looking for at the bottom.

The language used in the ad was nowhere used in this landing page. I had to make two and two together to understand that the 3 T-shirts will cost me Rs. 149.

But the best was still in store for me.

I added the T-shirts of my choice in the cart. And here is what I get (Screenshot above). They had added shipping charge of Rs. 25 for each of the three T-shirts. Were they going to ship each of the T-shirts individually?

They had also charged Rs. 25 as Cash on Delivery charge for each of the T-shirts. I haven’t heard of any provider charging this, at least not as a separate charge.

So now the cost of the T-shirts came out to Rs. 298, exactly double the price Yebhi.com advertised.

I don’t know about the product quality being provided here, but I can buy the same product for that price in the local market as well. There I also have a choice of colors and size. So why do I purchase it from Yebhi.com?

A majority of the ads on Google, Facebook and other platforms have disappointment in store for the users. The ad has a different content from the one at the landing page. There are too many fine conditions that change the meaning of the advertisement completely.

When I wrote to Yebhi, they replied back that this is because delivery companies charge courier costs based on the volume of the packet, therefore each additional unit results in incremental cost to Yebhi. I wasn’t convinced. In order to check how the other portals work, I made an online transaction on another online portal, Flipkart.com. As I had thought, they charged a single shipping charge for two books that I ordered. There was no charge for cash on delivery. I wrote to them with screenshots. There was no reply from their side. This makes me think if the extra charges at Yebhi are really charged by the courier company or are they just trying to put the blame on the other party?
