Mozilla news challenge By Asha
The Knight-Mozilla News Technology Partnership describes itself as ‘a three-year initiative of the Knight Foundation and Mozilla to harness open-web innovation for journalism. Through a series of innovation challenges and community events, we will identity 15 fellows that will be embedded in leading newsrooms around the world. These fellows will create new tools, ideas, and news experiences that benefit both readers and newsmakers—all using open technologies.’
Not for profit Mozilla, which has created one of the most popular browsers – Firefox, has an interesting Challenge in the competition
“ Challenge 2:
How can we create more dynamic spaces for online news discussion? The best discussions around the web can be pretty isolated. And in many comment threads, the loudest voices drown out everyone else. How do we improve the signal-to-noise ratio in public news commentary? “
If you have a good idea to solve Challenge 2, sent it in as the competition is open to anyone in the world. According to Mozilla, four of our five partners in 2011 will host fellows outside of the US! (5/10/2011) |
