Syntel Pune two factions By Sandhya
Regular readers of Techgoss are well aware that a large number of our articles are crowd sourced. People send in tips, story ideas and even articles. Based on anon Tips, Techgoss had published snippets early this month speculating that Ashok Yadav would be moving to FA as well as who would replace him (Articles republished below).
Now, a Tipster tells us what is really happening at Syntel Pune. The Tipster had some cheeky tongue lashing for Techgoss even as she filled in the gaps
“ While you media types at Techgoss have got the general overview right, you have been unable to capture the subtlety of the power equations here at Syntel. Like most Indian media, some of your coverage is superficial driven by a need for an instant story. Sometimes, I feel media organizations in India won’t know what is happening if a story came and bit them on their ass. They will still not know what is happening.. I will put myself in the role of a Syntel Citizen’s Journalist and tell your readers what is really happening
External Reconciliation in Pune is the stomping grounds of two powerful groups each with many intelligent and hardworking employees – The Sarang Group and the Donald Group (I will not use their full names as Google searches on Syntel bring up lots of information sourced from Techgoss, and I want to give you the true picture but not harm anyone’s careers. After all, getting ahead in life in no crime)
There is a lot of healthy (**Cough cough. Rolling my eyes**) rivalry between the two groups with each doing anything to get ahead. (Visualize the same battles that are being fought out in the State elections of Kerala and Bengal). One side had a good relationship with the highly regarded Ashok while the other side has a great relationship with the Deputy Manager.
Over the past few months, Donald lost one process. He was previously in charge of Lazard, Mithra and Europe Reconciliations Team. However, since December, Donald has lost Lazard which is now headed by the Sarang Group
Donald was long due for his promotion. However, this time he was offered a promotion through an Internal Job Posting for Operations Manager with Fund Accounting. In other words, Donald was given an offer which he could not refuse.
Donald could and should have been promoted in External Reconciliation itself as he is a great asset to the organization. He has the skills and expertise to do a great job. But this IJP promotion will weaken the Donald group. Over the next few months, we will see a systematic targeting of the members of the Donald Group.
At Syntel, like every other organization, one persons’ loss is another person’s gain. And, yes, there are a few independents as well who do not belong to either group. “

Syntel: Yadav moving? By Sandhya
On April 27, 2011, Techgoss had published exclusive details of the salary hikes handed out at Syntel KPO (Article republished below).
Regular readers of Techgoss are well aware that a large number of our articles are crowd sourced. People send in tips, story ideas and even articles. We reached out to our Tipsters to find out the general reaction to the salary hikes announced at Syntel. This is what they said:
“ The salary hike percentage is almost the same as last year. But there are some ripples of discontent due to the promotions list which was announced two days before the salary hike. Many names featuring in the list were unexpected and a shock, and also the number of people promoted seem to be fewer than last year.
The talk around the water cooler is that Ashok Yadav has moved / will move to Fund Accounting Vertical with effect from May 1, 2011. But no formal announcement has been made in this regard. Also, it is not clear who will be heading the External Reconciliation Team. “ (5/12/2011) |
